3 Popular Skin Tightening Treatments

Morpheus8

Merging both microneedling and fractional radio frequency, Morpheus8 is a pioneering technology that quickly produces tangible skin tightening results.

It is important to note that cis often used as an umbrella term for this technology of skin tightening. You may have also heard of Morpheus Burst, Morpheus Resurfacing, and Morpheus Prime.

Each version of Morpheus8 is unique so it is important that the clinic you visit has the treatment you are looking for.

How Does it Work?

By utilizing bi-polar radio frequency to heat the area beneath the skin, Morpheus8 prompts a wound healing reaction from the body, resulting in collagen production and skin remodeling, thus improving skin elasticity and resilience.

Roughly three weeks after treatment, the skin's connective tissue will be healthier and firmer, which will make the face look lifted and fuller in areas that were previously sunken. It may take up to six months to experience the full effects of Morpheus8.

Morpheus8 can produce results within just one treatment for the right candidate. With that being said, everyone’s skin type and skin concerns are unique, meaning it might take multiple treatments to achieve the intended outcome.

What Does it Treat?

Although the Morpheus8 device is primarily a skin tightening treatment, it can also improve skin texture. With that, the device can be used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and scars in several areas of the face ...

  • Below the brow bone
  • Under eye (up to the orbital rim)
  • Around the Mouth
  • Cheeks
  • Neck

Morpheus8 can also tighten skin and treat skin texture on several areas of the body such as:

  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Knees
  • Abdomen

Thermage

Utilizing a non-invasive radiofrequency therapy, the Thermage system can help to make skin look smoother, firmer, and more contoured for a youthful appearance.

How Does it Work?

Thermage uses mono-polar radiofrequency in a stamping motion to heat the deeper layers of the skin. Similar to Morpheus8, Thermage raises the skin temperature 10 degrees in under 2 minutes to inflict controlled injury to the skin.

This is done to target deep collagen fibers while a new cooling tip that slightly cools the surface of the skin for patient comfort. The heat works to separate water molecules from the fibrous collagen, creating a contraction of the skin which results in a lifting affect.

In the months following a Thermage treatment, a secondary healing process will begin as new collagen is deposited in the skin. This new collagen production will create continuous skin tightening results over time. With that, it takes up to 6 months to see the full results.

What Does it Treat?

Thermage is a great way to reduce wrinkles and tighten loose skin on the face, neck, chest, and other parts of the body like the arms, abdomen, and knees.

Ultherapy

Finally, Ultherapy is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that uses ultrasound technology to tighten and firm the skin.

How Does it Work?

The ultrasound technology uses sound waves to inflict a controlled injury to the skin. These sound waves target deep layers of the skin tissue to stimulate the production of your bodies collagen to improve skin elasticity.

Further, the ultrasound imaging targets the specific area of concern to ensure that the energy is delivered to the intended area.

The outcomes of the treatment can take up to 6 weeks to be evident, just as with Morpheus8 and Thermage. Typically, just one session can be enough to attain the desired results, however, it is dependent on the individual and their individual needs which could necessitate more than one treatment.

What Does it Treat?

Ultherapy can be used to lift the skin on the face, neck, and chest. It can also be used on certain areas of the body such as the abdomen, arms, and knees.
